The Pink Patch Project originated in 2013 in California when the Seal Beach Police Department wore a pink version of their department patch on their uniforms during "Breast Cancer Awareness Month". The goal being to raise breast cancer awareness. In 2015, the Irwindale Police Department, also in California, took the idea a step further and sold their pink patches to the public raising over $20,000 for City of Hope. Since then, nearly 1,000 EMS agencies worldwide have joined the campaign. The Rosemount Police Department became the first agency in Minnesota to join the Pink Patch Project in 2017 and now over 50 Minnesota agencies have participated since, with more joining each year. Through 2024, those Minnesota agencies have collectively raised over $330,000 for their respective cancer organizations. See their website to learn more https://pinkpatchproject.com/.
